On October 24th, we took advantage of a beautiful day in Downtown Dartmouth. The Grade 7 Social Studies class had the opportunity to walk around the site of the Sawmill River Daylighting Project.
We learned about the rivers importance to First Nations people, as it was not just a means of transportation, but it was a source for a variety of resources and an area of significant settlement.
Thank you Halifax Water, The Ecology Action Centre and Dexter Construction for adding such a beautiful and historic area back to Downtown Dartmouth! Thank you to everyone who made this project possible, especially Sam Austin. We can’t wait to come back to see the continued work on the Daylighting Project!
