Community

Being an active member in our community is integral to the East Coast Varsity family. Allowing time for community involvement, understanding the importance of helping others and knowing how one can be involved are attributes that sometimes require guidance and discipline. This year we’ve been involved with the SPCA, the Salvation Army and a few local senior citizen homes to name a few.

Anne-Marie Smith & Max, Grade 6

When you ask Max what’s his favourite sport, he has to think about it because his favourite sport often depends on the season, and what he’s playing at that particular time.  The multi sport approach at ECV works well for Max because it allows him to continuously develop skills in two sports he loves and plays competitively – hockey and baseball.  As well this approach engages him in a variety of other sport and physical endurance activities which complement the other sports he plays including basketball, snowboarding, flag football, paddling, and golf. ECV's small class sizes and individual/small groups attention allows kids to realize their academic potential. The daily routine which balances academic time and physical activity, creates the right conditions for growth and learning.

Kendra MacIsaac-Hobson – Hannah, Grade 9 & Andrea, Grade 10

ECV has given our children  opportunities like volunteering with SPCA,  surfing, entertaining the elderly and Earth Day cleanup. All connecting them with the community. With our hectic schedules its great to know they get these experiences. Realizing not every student learns the same way or at the same pace the teachers at ECV take the time to recognize individuality and offer before and after school extra help.

Blair Keiver & Drew, Grade 5

We couldn’t be happier with the on ice product.  Erin King brings a vast bank of knowledge and experience to the ice, and with small group sizes, he focuses on each player’s skill development in all facets of the game. He pours his heart and soul into the program and Drew is very fortunate to have his mentorship both on and off the ice. I highly recommend ECV both academically and athletically to all student athletes, it has exceeded all of our expectations.

Steve Tomlin & Makayla, Grade 8

East Coast Varsity was an instant fit for our daughter from the first ‘trial’ day we attended.  The involvement of the faculty goes beyond teacher student responsibilities as they take a personal interest in her goals while managing her high expectations to be a successful student. This combination has allowed our daughter to flourish as a dancer, giving her flexibility to attend outside dance commitments while maintaining a higher level of education. As dance parents, having our daughter attend ECV has been the best choice we could have made.
